More people than ever before are choosing to buy used cars rather than paying out for a brand new model. This may be because manufacturers have suffered production delays as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. So with used cars proving so popular what are the makes and models that customers are seeking out? To find out for-sale.co.uk analysed data from Google eBay and Autotrader to see which used cars are changing hands the most. The most desired brand That s BMW a true powerhouse of the motoring world. As well as high numbers of listings on eBay and people searching on Google BMW was the most listed brand on AutoTrader with over 36 000 used listings. While it lagged behind slightly in terms of Google searches Ford was the most commonly listed brand on eBay (with over 20 000 listings) and was also the second-most popular brand on AutoTrader too. Another German automaker takes third place with Audi scoring highly across the board. The most sought-after second-hand car models Looking at the 50 most popular cars in the country it was the Ford Fiesta that was the most popular amongst second-hand buyers particularly on eBay where there were over 7 000 used listings. In second was the Volkswagen Golf another tried and trusted favourite that holds its value well and has been among the best selling cars in the country for a number of years now. Another Ford vehicle came in place and it s another stalwart of the company s lineup the Focus. The most sought-after second-hand supercars What about the most commonly sold used supercars? The Porsche 911 has been the flagship model of the Porsche brand for almost 60 years and is one of the longest-running vehicles in the world and is clearly still proving popular with drivers as it was the top-scoring on all three of the factors that the survey looked at with over 180 000 annual searches for used models 649 eBay listings and 1 643 listings on AutoTrader. Porsche s Boxster took second place and was the second-most listed supercar on both eBay and AutoTrader. Yet another Porsche takes third place with the Panamera which was also the second-most searched model on Google. The most sought-after second-hand electric vehicles Nissan s Leaf model was one of the first mass-produced electric vehicles so it s no surprise that there are more used models circulating on our roads than any other EV model. The BMW i3 is another of the most popular EVs available and was the most popular used EV on eBay with 267 listings. Completing the top three most sought-after used electric vehicles is the Hyundai Ioniq.
